Dear friend,

I have composed Sleep On Somebody's Knee through the better part of the last 4 years. This album represents my voice-oriented, first non-instrumental work to date, after 5 instrumental releases, printed on limited, self-produced CD's in the last 10 years.

I have mostly, both in my real and music life been concerned by certain themes: the mistery of inner feelings; the relentless passing of time; the rich contrasts between urban and small-town life and the stop motion rhythm of death, creating valves for both wisdom and doubt.

The songs of this work were written in different physical and head spaces: a XII century monastery in the desert of Monegros, the living room of my old apartment or as the Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt, among others.

As such, these songs, more like an impressionist painter would, do not try to express the particulars in these events but rather the broad brush strokes within which ancestral emotions are both embedded and interlaced through it all, for I have found the human experience to be in itself more bountiful when we discover that which unites the phases of our existence.

May these songs, that have been carefully recorded, arranged and produced by Javier Rojas in a remote location of Madrid's wild mountain ranges, and include the contribution of some of the finest musicians of the Madrid music scene, find a home within you, as I finally set them free.
